Kimberly Tanny is a 3rd degree black belt in Taekwon-do and has devoted over 10 years to the martial arts. She


specializes in teaching children and adults of all ages and backgrounds. Her focus is ITF Taekwon-Do, although she has also trained in various other styles of martial arts and martial art weapons. She has a passion for martial arts and fitness combined with her love for teaching and her never ending desire for constant self improvement and training.
Mrs. Tanny started her martial arts training as a college student at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO after taking a semester long Tae Kwon Do and Karate based Self Defense class. In April 2002, she began her Tae Kwon Do training under Master Trang Tran-Wolf of
Tran's Martial Arts and Fitness Center in Loveland, CO. She earned her 1st degree black belt from Tran's Loveland on May 14, 2005 and taught as the Assistant Head Instructor there leading and assisting in many of the adult and children's classes as well as co-leading the weapons program and demonstration team for two years.
Mrs. Tanny married the love of her life on April 22, 2006. Her husband is also a former martial artist and had earned his red belt in a Southern style Kung Fu in Indonesia.
In January 2007, Mrs. Tanny was hired as the Head Instructor and General Manager of
Tran's Fitness and Kickboxing in Denver, CO where she was in charge of the Tae Kwon Do and Thai Kickboxing programs. She helped train 80+ martial arts students there during her two plus years as the Head Instructor. She earned her 2nd degree black belt from Master Hai Tran on November 3, 2007.


During her years training and instructing at Tran's, she became a certified black belt instructor through the Tran's Martial Arts organization, which includes schools all across the Front Range in Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette and Denver. She constantly attended instructor training meetings and seminars in Longmont, Boulder and even at the Martial Arts Super Show in Las Vegas, Nevada to constantly be on the cutting edge of martial arts instruction, drills and more.
Mrs. Tanny resigned from teaching at Tran's at the end of April 2009 to prepare for her new family and to welcome her new son on July 1, 2009.
On August 31, 2009, she began teaching private lessons from her home to former students, which eventually grew to five private students. She taught from her basement studio for one year, then on September 1, 2010, she officially opened the doors to
Tanny Academy of Martial Arts to the public.
Mrs. Tanny has trained briefly in other styles of martial arts like Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Kendo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but her

focus remains ITF TaeKwon-Do.
Tanny Academy of Martial Arts is a member club of the International Taekwon-Do Federation in which founder General Choi's son, Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa now is the current president. TAMA is also a member club of Colorado International Taekwon-do (CIT), which is led by
Master Roberto Roena, VII dan as well as Dr. Dave Steffen, V Dan. Tanny Academy of Martial Arts is also affiliated with the Phoenix Group ITF, headed by VIII Dan Black Belt - Master John Tompkins. Mrs. Tanny earned her 3rd Degree Black Belt through Colorado International Taekwon-Do on June 24, 2011. She is excited to have the opportunity to share the values and benefits of the martial arts and fitness with families in the Aurora and Denver, CO area.
Kimberly Tanny is also currently certified through the International Fitness Association (IFA) as an Aerobic Instructor and Personal Trainer. In addition to teaching Taekwon-Do classes, she also teaches fitness kickboxing classes and is an
Independent Team Beachbody Coach, helping to motivate people online to achieve better health and fitness.
